Get to know Bay Area wedding officiant Tamar Weir.
Bay Area, CA
I became a wedding officiant because I love stories — especially the ones people create together. As a writer, my favorite thing is helping people find the meaning, beauty, and uniqueness in their experiences and put it into words. Officiating feels like a natural extension of that work.
I want to know the little things. How you met, what makes you laugh, what you admire about one another, what you’ve been through, and what you’re excited to build together. Then I’ll find the story underneath the story and weave it into a ceremony that could only belong to YOU — never a template, never a performance.
I’m newer to officiating, but I’m not new to creating meaningful, celebratory spaces where people feel seen and connected. As a queer person, I’m especially passionate about creating a welcoming, affirming experience for LGBTQIA+ couples and families, and I’m happy to officiate in English, Spanish, or both. Because here’s what I believe: love doesn’t happen in isolation. Your wedding is a coming together of your people, and I’d be honored to be a small part of it.
Tamar's Story
When I’m not officiating weddings, I have several jobs that keep me passionately sustained. I work as a landscaper and farmer, helping folks bring the vision of their dreams to life and connect more deeply with nature. I’m also a big foodie and work at a bakery, where I’m surrounded by the beauty of fresh-baked goods.
I recently graduated from the Sexual Health Alliance coaching program, and I’m finishing my studies at the Institute for the Study of Somatic Sex Education, with the goal of opening a private practice as a sex and relationship coach and somatic educator. I’m deeply passionate about helping people become the most confident versions of themselves.
Outside of work and weddings, you’ll find me in the kitchen, cooking ingredients from the garden and feeding the people I love. I’m also an artist — I write poetry, essays, prose, and a biweekly blog, and I sculpt with ceramics, with work published in the Leviathan Jewish Journal, Mixed Mag, and Lived Collective. And when I’m not writing? I’m out in the garden, hanging out with my nephew, or chipping away at my millions of projects.
