Creative Additions to Your Wedding Ceremony

We believe your wedding ceremony is the most important part of your wedding day. And because it’s so important, it should feel most like you!

We’ve all been to the same, boring wedding ceremony full of stuffy traditions that put everyone to sleep. But your ceremony doesn’t have to be like that! Your wedding ceremony can be whatever you want it to be. It’s the beginning of your marriage, so it should feel exactly like you two.

One of the best ways to make your wedding ceremony feel unique to you is by adding your own creative additions. If you have no idea where to start, check out our resources above for some inspiration. From themes to special unity ceremonies, there are so many ways to get creative.

Here are a few of our favourite creative elements for your wedding ceremony:

Writing your own vows: The most straightforward and best way to personalize your wedding ceremony is by writing your own vows – because you are literally adding your own voice to the ceremony! As wedding officiants, we are big fans of writing your own vows. Check out our vow writing course if you need help getting your thoughts out on paper.

Creative walking and seating: We assume so many of the elements of a traditional ceremony have to happen the way they always do, but they don’t! You can change up your processional (how you walk in), recessional (how you walk out) and even how you ask your guests to sit. For example, you two can walk in together, your guests can be seated in a circle around you, and you can ask your guests to join you dancing down the aisle on the way out.

Personalize your flowers: If you have a bouquet or boutonniere, you can personalize it to add an extra creative touch to your wedding ceremony. You can, of course, choose your favourite flowers and favourite colours. You can also honour loved ones by choosing their favourite flowers or adding a charm to your arrangement.
