There’s something to be said about the fact that we had picked out the officiant we wanted before my husband and I had even gotten engaged – and we were 110% right! Realtalk: Shawn & Erika were amazing and phenomenal. They have an amazing energy, are attentive to details to ensure your day goes according to your vision, are prompt in their communication, are caring individuals, super chill, hilarious, flexible and professional. They took all the stress out of a day that could’ve been highly stressful and helped us enjoy the moment and the start of a new journey. Tara (aka Office Goddess) was prompt in communication and super helpful about guiding us through the logistics and process. It just doesn’t get any better than this super team! We highly recommend! In fact, down the road, my husband and I might just have to go through a divorce and then a re-marriage à la Elizabeth Taylor just so that we have an excuse to work with these two again… 🙂

We absolutely loved our wedding ceremony! Shawn was amazing, he kept it light-hearted yet sincere. We had many people approach us afterwards to tell us how much they enjoyed it. Shawn made it so easy, right from meeting him for the first time to exchanging vow ideas and finally, our actual ceremony. He was incredibly helpful at our rehearsal, and was there for before and after the ceremony to congratulate us and give us a chance to ask any last minute questions. Honestly we were so pleased with our little covid wedding. Many changes had to take place to finally get a wedding, but we are so thrilled with how it turned out, and how accommodating Young Hip and Married were. Shawn was so magnetic and engaging; he had us so present in the moment. The few guests we had, and who watched the ceremony virtually, thought Shawn had been our friend for years, when in fact we had never spoke before that morning!! I can’t express how great it was for someone to be so comfortable in their job, and just know the perfect things to say. I will 100% tell all of my friends.

My partner and I were married in a North Vancouver forest by Shawn and Erica was our photographer. We were looking for a very personal, private and intimate ceremony and that is exactly what we got. Shawn lead us through a beautiful ceremony and gave us some guidance before the ceremony that really helped my husband and I lock into each other and reason we were there together. Shawn has a way of guiding the ceremony, while stepping back enough for us to feel like we were there alone. This made it easy to be our authentic selves in that moment, there was no show. This naturally led to a flood of emotion for both of us, as we felt the weight of our love, the significance of our bond, and the deep appreciation and gratitude that we have for each other.

Erica did a wonderful job of capturing the moment with beautiful and candid photographs of the ceremony and the hour following. The pictures are great!

In addition to the wedding day, they were both very helpful prior to the wedding, helping when we asked for guidance (e.g., alternative ceremony locations for rainy day and where/how to get our marriage license). They always answered the phone when I called with a question. We really feel that they were there for us before and during the wedding.

If you are considering a wedding officiant and/photographer we highly recommend Shawn and Erica. I cannot imagine a better couple to have there supporting a bride and groom on your wedding day. We are so grateful that Shawn and Erica were a part of this significant and special day.

I had been following Young Hip & Married for a few years, always impressed with their annual “Love In the Square” elopement event held on Valentine’s Day. When my partner & I decided to get married, there was no hesitation in choosing to work with YH&M! We wanted a quiet, simple, no-frills moment to celebrate our union, and YH&M delivered that. Shawn, our officiant, and Erica, our photographer are the ultimate power couple! Both super sweet, they took excellent care of us. They suggested the perfect quiet spot in the forest, and gave us a beautiful ceremony. The wedding vows course was an added bonus! So helpful. Considering we didn’t exchange rings or anything like that, our vows were the focal point of our day. The course helped us make sure they would be perfect. YH&M was such an easy choice for our special day.

As many can relate, organizing a wedding (no matter the size) can be quite a daunting task, including finding a great officiant. We are incredibly happy we stumbled upon YHM, as they provided us with quick and the uttermost smooth service, and hooked us up with a fantastic officiant! Working with Shawn and Erica of Young Hip & Married was so awesome! There was so much excitement and high energy right before the ceremony and it was Shawn’s impromptu introduction that really brought us into the moment, setting the soulful intention and deep connected feeling for our ceremony. A moment of huge appreciation and joy for the people at Young Hip & Married that were so accommodating, kind, and well spoken for our COVID-19 ceremony. Our friends and family who watched the video were all like “Wow the guy who married you guys was such a great speaker!” or some variation, and honestly, I just really enjoyed working with them! I’m not planning on getting married again, so I can’t say that I would use them again for, you know, another marriage ceremony. But we are planning on doing a vow renewal or something once COVID is under wraps and we can actually, you know, hug our friends and family without fear of giving them (or receiving) a virus; and for that we are definitely planning on going back to Young Hip & Married to see if that’d be cool!

Shawn officiated our wedding and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We had chosen to go with YHM due to the wide selection of officiants to choose from, and we found one that suited the theme/vibe we were going for. Unfortunately, a few months before the wedding, something came up and the officiant we chose was unable to do our wedding. We were disappointed and wondering whether we had made a mistake (spoiler alert – we hadn’t). Shawn reached out to us immediately, apologized, and offered to find a suitable replacement, or officiate our wedding himself. At first we were apprehensive as we really connected with our original choice, but Shawn met with us in person and quickly put us at ease that everything would only be done with our approval of the finished product/script. From that point forward, Shawn worked very closely with us and our feedback, and we went through various iterations of our final wedding ceremony. He even helped us with our vows. On the day, Shawn delivered in spades – A true pro. He was very well prepared, without sounding too rehearsed, and he struck the right tone that we were going for. We had a very quick elopement (15min + 45min photo shoot) on a local beach outside of Vancouver. Shawn, our officiant, and Erica the photographer were awesome. Shawn did an amazing job with our ceremony! We had to make a lot of adjustments to our original plan due to Covid restrictions and Shawn was so accommodating! We could not have been happier to have YH&M and Shawn be a part of our big day! We could not be happier!

Having been at a friend’s wedding in the fall where it was very evident that the officiant hadn’t met the couple previously, my then fiancé and I decided that we should invest some money in our wedding ceremony- after all, it was a very important element of our wedding day for us. After some research, we reached out to Young Hip & Married and within a day we had a meeting scheduled with Shawn. From the moment we met him, we knew that we wanted him to officiate at our wedding. It was obvious that he wanted to create a ceremony that was completely “us” and he wanted all our guests to leave the ceremony thinking the same! He answered all our questions and put us at ease. He took us through all stages of the planning so painlessly and it was so much fun working with him. When my fiancé and I read the ceremony script for the first time, we cried- Shawn had captured our story perfectly and we couldn’t wait for the big day!! When it came to the rehearsal, Shawn was just so excited to see us and to prepare us for our big day; all the nerves went away! Then to our big day- the day was so emotional and he actually worked with our guests and us to calm us all down and perform the most perfect ceremony for us!! All our guests were raving about how amazing he was and we couldn’t agree more! Young Hip and Married genuinely care for their couples and we couldn’t recommend them more to all the engaged couples out there!

I first connected with Young Hip and Married in August 2019 to book the Helicopter Elopement Package for April 8, 2020. I was floored with their quick response even though my date was still 8 months away! During the unraveling of Covid-19, our communication remained impeccable during such a stressing time; we were given weekly updates up until our province lockdown and we had to postpone with SKY Helicopters. Because we had no clue when life would resume to normal again, Shawn (our officiant) was determined to still make our special day happen since the date was sentimental to us. We were so touched! We followed the strict social distancing protocols and his words were so personalized and touching, I happy-cried throughout the whole ceremony. Also, our photographer, Erica Miller, offered a complimentary photography session which was awesome! We are so grateful for the commitment and hard work Young Hip and Married showed us, especially during this crazy time we’re all going though.

He made me feel so comfortable that I wasn’t even nervous by the time I got to the altar! Our guests are still talking about how engaging and perfect our ceremony was and assume Shawn is a long time friend of ours. Highly recommend!

Shawn was amazing! He was so charismatic and easy to talk to about our ceremony. Shawn helped guide us through what we believed to be the most anxious part of the day and honestly it became not only the funniest but most memorable. (To be fair I think Shawn won’t forget this day either!) He made me and my now hubby calm and made us laugh which is exactly what we wanted – he was there every step of the way, throughout the process of conjuring up the ceremony tweaking it here and there, making it ours. Many of our guests noted his wit and personality and how he made the day fun and special and that they have never been to a ceremony like ours before stating it was one of the best ones they have been to. We had the most fantastic experience with Young Hip & Married and can not recommend them enough. The communication prior to the wedding was brilliant and completely stress free. Shawn and Erica were both amazing and we are absolutely in love with our wedding photos.

For us, the most important part of the wedding was the ceremony and it was paramount to us to find the right officiant. We wanted a lighthearted ceremony since we knew, our emotions will be running high on that day. It was important to us to tell our story with a touch of humour but elegance. So when we came across YH&M, we really liked what we read (very effective website) and filled out their online form. Next day, we received an email with time options to meet the officiant. We had the pleasure to meet with Shawn Miller and had a great meeting. We felt immediately that with Shawn, we are in good hands. We didn’t even think twice but to hire YH&M. We were so excited, we both felt that it’ll be a great ceremony. What we gathered from our initial meeting was that Shawn is very experienced in his field, he is professional, knowledgable, has a great sense of humor and most importantly is very understanding. We made a few requests that were very important for us to be mentioned during the ceremony. On top of that, Shawn had to be mindful of my medical condition so that everything went smoothly. Yes, my parents were by my side but there were many things that were depending on the officiant and Shawn did an amazing job ensuring that I felt good throughout the entire ceremony, even if he had to do a few uncomfortable things like moving the guests around, rearranging seats, changing timing a bit etc. But he did it with such professionalism that no one felt awkward or uncomfortable. It was a smooth operation. Thank you for that Shawn! I have been to a few weddings and the ceremony has been always dry and impersonal, even though some couples chose their mutual friend to be the officiant so that this doesn’t happen. Our guests thought Shawn is our old friend, and knows us many years. This is the level of experience that he provides. After our initial meeting we filled out an extensive form detailing our wish ceremony style. Sometimes, when you fill out a form, people requesting those don’t read half of it. One thing that stood out for us with Shawn was his attention to detail. I’m very detail oriented and it was so important for me that nothing gets missed, especially during the ceremony. Shawn, paid attention to every detail and we could see that in the ceremony. Not only that, he has given us some valuable advise about certain things that we thought should be otherwise. Thank God we followed his advise. Our ceremony was better than we had envisioned or hoped for. We loved every single bit of it. It was lighthearted, elegant, beautiful, we laughed, we cried, it was 100% us and we felt amazing. Our guests are still talking about it and asked us how we found Shawn. For my husband and I the ceremony was the most magical experience and we are always thankful to Shawn for that. Well, needless to say, we highly recommend Shawn and YH&M to new couples.

We hired Young Hip and Married to officiate our ceremony after they were recommended to us by our wedding coordinator. We were a bit hesitant at first because they are a bit pricy, but after our initial interview we were sure we wanted to select them for our ceremony. It was obvious right away that they would do everything they could to customize the ceremony to be exactly how my wife and I wanted it.

From our initial interview right until the day of, they were professional and exciting, and took a lot of the edge off the process, helping us have a little fun during the stressful wedding planning phase. One particularly cute detail: Shawn, the CEO, who was also our officiant, prefers to send recorded videos as opposed to e-mails to his clients. We thought that was awesome! The only hiccup was caused by the officiant we initially chose dropping out about 3 months before the wedding for personal reasons. This was a wholly-unforeseen incident, not at all the fault of anyone at YHM. Even then, the company stepped in right away, and Shawn offered to officiate our wedding himself. He was one of our top picks, so we agreed. Despite the initial panic, the exchange went through relatively smoothly, so it all worked out in the end.

After that, everything went very smoothly. We went back and forth with Shawn and edited our ceremony until we were happy, no complaints from him whatsoever (and we can be quite picky!). We were able to run some ideas by him, and he helped us fit them into the ceremony smoothly. He also helped us write our vows (without showing them to either of us, of course). Organization-wise, Shawn worked directly with our wedding coordinator and DJ, and we did not have to worry about a thing on the day of.

We also found he had a calming presence, which was a huge help since we were both so nervous. He was there for our rehearsal too, and calmly taught us exactly what we needed to do, very good for us since neither me or my wife had done this kind of wedding before, not being originally from Canada. We also had the misfortune of getting rain RIGHT in the middle of our outdoor ceremony. Shawn was really put to the test then; he could have easily forced us indoors and ruined our carefully laid out plans, but he handled everything so well! He asked us what we wanted to do in a very subtle way, we doubt our guests even realized we were having a problem. We’re sure a less professional officiant might have botched it; we were really really glad to have him around then.

As for the ceremony itself, almost all of our guests remarked on how beautiful it was. Shawn was fantastic! Everything we could have hoped for. We highly recommend working Young Hip and Married for your wedding ceremony. If you want the ceremony YOU want, exactly the way you want it, and to not have to worry about any mistakes, or dealing with unforeseen mishaps, there is no one better!

I can’t express how much I recommend this company. From the first email to the wedding itself and everything in between, they have been friendly, helpful and all around amazing. My husband and I wanted to do something absolutely different and wild, asking 9 of our close friends to hike Dog Mountain on Seymour at sunrise to witness us get married. When I wrote the email to Young Hip & Married about what we envisioned our wedding day to look like, they didn’t even hesitate to accommodate our insane request. Our wedding was perfect! I can’t thank Shawn enough for waking up at 3:00am, meeting us on the mountain at 4:15am and hiking to the lookout with all of us. This gratitude we feel can’t be put into words. We had a very small, intimate wedding. Having Shawn, as our officiant, and Erica, as our photographer, felt like we had two more close friends at our ceremony. Both instantly put us at ease and never made us feel rushed or anxious. Shawn’s words were so touching and heart felt, it seemed like he had known us for ages. Erica knew what our wishes were and stuck to them without making anyone else feel uncomfortable. We spent the first couple of hours as husband and wife, walking along the sea wall with Erica, and I can’t imagine it any other way. My wife and I are wedding photographers, and as such we get the opportunity to work with a LOT of different wedding officiants! Shawn was genuine, sincere, and more than willing and flexible to help us out on our big day!
