Shawn was very helpful and helped to make our ceremony very personal. Our guests commented as to how personal and interesting our ceremony was and that was what I really wanted. It’s great to have a fun party after but let’s be real, its really all about the ceremony, right? Shawn is well worth the costs and he really is available for any help you may need.

There simply isn’t enough space to say all the great things I want to say! We had a very quick elopement (15min + 45min photo shoot) on a local beach outside of Vancouver. Shawn, our officiant, and Erica the photographer were awesome. Everything went smoothly, Shawn was a great speaker even though he had never met us, and Erica was very casual to work with afterwards for our photo shoot. Planning a wedding is stressful but during a pandemic is on a whole new level of stress. Working with Shawn from Young, Hip & Married made the ceremony easy and relaxing. Shawn was professional and helped keep my wife and I at ease. As a result, our socially distanced and covid friendly ceremony was perfect. My wife and I will be recommending YH&M to everyone.

I can’t express how much I recommend this company. From the first email to the wedding itself and everything in between, they have been friendly, helpful and all around amazing. My husband and I wanted to do something absolutely different and wild, asking 9 of our close friends to hike Dog Mountain on Seymour at sunrise to witness us get married. We really liked the concept of this company and definitely wanted to stay away from a long, boring, templated wedding ceremony. We hired Shawn as our officiant and he was excellent! He met with us a couple of times to get to know us and what we were looking for in our ceremony. He also gave us separate forms to fill out to find out about our personal thoughts on our relationship. In the end, he came up with a very nice, unique story of our relationship to share with our wedding guests. Our guests got to learn more about us as a couple. He also directed our rehearsal ceremony in a very fun, but organized and structured way which is difficult when there are so many people involved. We wrote our own vows and Shawn gave us a lot of advice on how to create them. Shawn was very good at communicating with us and provided the perfect ambiance for our young, hip wedding ceremony. We strongly recommend looking into this company for a similar experience. Shawn met all of our expectations.

Shawn from Young Hip & Married managed to pull off a ceremony that all our parents (and us!) truly loved and we weren’t really sure if that would even be​ remotely possible! My husband and I grew up with different cultures and traditions and Shawn helped us find the perfect balance creating a custom ceremony that was so special and meaningful for us and our families. We got so many compliments from our guests on the ceremony, they loved being involved and a few people even asked if Shawn was a friend of ours! It was exactly what we wanted! For us, the most important part of the wedding was the ceremony and it was paramount to us to find the right officiant. We wanted a lighthearted ceremony since we knew, our emotions will be running high on that day. It was important to us to tell our story with a touch of humour but elegance. So when we came across YH&M, we really liked what we read (very effective website) and filled out their online form. Next day, we received an email with time options to meet the officiant. We had the pleasure to meet with Shawn Miller and had a great meeting. We felt immediately that with Shawn, we are in good hands. We didn’t even think twice but to hire YH&M. We were so excited, we both felt that it’ll be a great ceremony. What we gathered from our initial meeting was that Shawn is very experienced in his field, he is professional, knowledgable, has a great sense of humor and most importantly is very understanding. We made a few requests that were very important for us to be mentioned during the ceremony. On top of that, Shawn had to be mindful of my medical condition so that everything went smoothly. Yes, my parents were by my side but there were many things that were depending on the officiant and Shawn did an amazing job ensuring that I felt good throughout the entire ceremony, even if he had to do a few uncomfortable things like moving the guests around, rearranging seats, changing timing a bit etc. But he did it with such professionalism that no one felt awkward or uncomfortable. It was a smooth operation. Thank you for that Shawn! I have been to a few weddings and the ceremony has been always dry and impersonal, even though some couples chose their mutual friend to be the officiant so that this doesn’t happen. Our guests thought Shawn is our old friend, and knows us many years. This is the level of experience that he provides. After our initial meeting we filled out an extensive form detailing our wish ceremony style. Sometimes, when you fill out a form, people requesting those don’t read half of it. One thing that stood out for us with Shawn was his attention to detail. I’m very detail oriented and it was so important for me that nothing gets missed, especially during the ceremony. Shawn, paid attention to every detail and we could see that in the ceremony. Not only that, he has given us some valuable advise about certain things that we thought should be otherwise. Thank God we followed his advise. Our ceremony was better than we had envisioned or hoped for. We loved every single bit of it. It was lighthearted, elegant, beautiful, we laughed, we cried, it was 100% us and we felt amazing. Our guests are still talking about it and asked us how we found Shawn. For my husband and I the ceremony was the most magical experience and we are always thankful to Shawn for that. Well, needless to say, we highly recommend Shawn and YH&M to new couples.

Shawn was absolutely fantastic! We had requested a simple legalization/elopement, and everything turned out exactly as we had imagined it. He showed up at our chosen vacation excited for us and ready to go. He was friendly and engaging with us and our two friends who were there to witness. The whole experience turned out to be a very happy and memorable one! I will definitely be recommending these guys to anyone I know getting married in the future.

Our wedding was incredibly atypical, and had a lot of factors to it most hired pros don’t appreciate having to arrange: early rising, considerable amounts of travel, an overall lack of traditional applications and at least 20% more emus than your usual venue. Shawn and Erica Miller committed to all of our needs with zero hesitation. While others said we were expecting too much or getting too eclectic, Y, H and M reassured us that this was our day and we should be able to design it however we wish. They did something very crucial few do for young couples planning their wedding: they listened. The officiating script was thoughtful and romantic, our photographer was excellent at directing us and incorporating our personal touches, and together they were a delightful, dedicated team who truly brought out every detail we wished to see shine on our biggest day. If your wedding plans stray from the more orthodox ways (or even if they don’t!), we highly recommend Young, Hip and Married. Your special day will be as beautiful and creative as you imagined with them on your side.

I couldn’t have asked for a better day! The Young Hip and Married team took care of everything for our small heli-elopement. It was the no stress wedding we were dreaming of. My fiancé and I were planning to elope and we were in search of an officiant and photographer in Vancouver. I stumbled across YH&M on the internet and they seemed the perfect fit. We wanted a simple, sweet ceremony sans religious overtones. We hoped to find someone that would reflect our sensibilities -creative/contemporary/cool. Shawn and his wife Erica were perfect!! Since we are from California & unfamiliar with Vancouver, they were extremely helpful in finding where we could procure our marriage license close to the hotel. They were also flexible about our location and allowed us to confirm within 24 hours of the scheduled ceremony. We wanted to visit the site we had chosen via pictures to be certain it was exactly what we wanted. They were on site prior to our scheduled time and ready to go as soon as we were. It was so nice to finally meet them in person after communicating with them via emails. We couldn’t have felt more comfortable! Our ceremony went off without a hitch- we managed to get a couple bicyclists to be witnesses 🙂 Erica stayed with us after the ceremony and we took loads of pictures. She couldn’t be nicer and really put us at ease. We got some great pictures out of the experience that we are free to use as desired. We both felt the value for the service was incredible. We were extremely happy with the entire experience with them, and would highly recommend their services to anyone!!

Shawn accommodated us in every way possible, from not having a real location set when we booked, to changing the time and then trekking down a hiking path on a dreary Saturday in January. He made me feel so at ease and added personal details to our ceremony which made it even more amazing. I couldn’t imagine having anyone else there that day.

Young Hip & Married has been an absolute pleasure to work with. They give you the all information for things you’ll need the day of the wedding. You have time to build rapport with your officiant and have a well tailored ceremony. They were also quite flexible with our venue changes during the pandemic.

Shawn, the owner, was our officiant, and it’s very easy to tell he puts a lot of care into not only the business, but officiating our wedding. The day of the wedding he pulled each of us aside and coached us through the ceremony, and made sure we were as comfortable as possible. This was super appreciated as you’d be surprised some of the day off jitters you can get right before the ceremony. It was a very smooth process and we wouldn’t change a thing.

I first connected with Young Hip and Married in August 2019 to book the Helicopter Elopement Package for April 8, 2020. I was floored with their quick response even though my date was still 8 months away! During the unraveling of Covid-19, our communication remained impeccable during such a stressing time; we were given weekly updates up until our province lockdown and we had to postpone with SKY Helicopters. Because we had no clue when life would resume to normal again, Shawn (our officiant) was determined to still make our special day happen since the date was sentimental to us. We were so touched! We followed the strict social distancing protocols and his words were so personalized and touching, I happy-cried throughout the whole ceremony. Also, our photographer, Erica Miller, offered a complimentary photography session which was awesome! We are so grateful for the commitment and hard work Young Hip and Married showed us, especially during this crazy time we’re all going though.

Young Hip and Married provided my husband and I exactly the wedding ceremony we hoped for. We were looking for a unique and personal experience that wouldn’t compromise our personal or spiritual values. Shawn was attentive, creative, and confident helping us arrange just such a ceremony. On the big day Shawn really connected with our family and friends and held the perfect space for my husband and I to be wed. After the ceremony many of my guests (some cynical anti wedding types) approached me to say they had never been to such an authentic and personally meaningful wedding until this one. YH&M: The best in the industry!

Shawn was incredible to work with and we cannot recommend him and Young Hip & Married enough! Shawn was the very first vendor we booked (about a year and a half in advance) before a dress, flowers, coordinator, or anything else. I had seen him in action at another wedding and knew he was the perfect person to marry us. Right from our initial meeting, Shawn made us so at ease and we felt like old friends just catching up over donuts at Cartems. He took real time to get to know us and ask meaningful questions. The process leading up to the wedding was fun and easy.

Shawn walked us through our rehearsal and calmed our nerves. On the day of the wedding, the ceremony he delivered for us was personalized, eloquent, meaningful, romantic, lighthearted, and fun all at once. It perfectly captured the essence of “us” in a way that even we couldn’t have put into words.

Our guests were also blown away! We had more than a few people ask us how long we had known each other, thinking that we were lifelong friends since he captured us and our story so well. My personal favourite comment from a guest was “his voice spoke to my soul.” Shawn indeed has a unique brand of gravitas mixed with humour, authenticity, and a genuine love for LOVE!

When my husband and I started to think about what we wanted out of our wedding ceremony we thought about how we wanted our guests to feel like they were involved in the ceremony. We wanted them to feel like for a moment they were a part of our love story and learned a little more about why we came together to join our lives. He created amazing sections that included our family and friends, getting them to pass around our wedding bands putting their love into them and then a amazing group vow with us. It was so special. We had so many guests coming up to us at our reception saying that the ceremony made them cry and laugh, and made them feel like we brought them into our love story, that was exactly what we wanted and Shawn gave us that. Everyone was telling us how he was so cool, funny and how he really captured us. We wanted our ceremony to be one of the most memorable parts of our wedding, and our guests mirrored that back to us. We decide to do a Covid year wedding since we had no idea when things will get back to normal again. However, this choice came with a lot of changes along the way during our planning phase. Young Hip & Married went above and beyond accommodating all our date, time, and location changes. We bombarded them with a ton of e-mails, and was all answered with kindness and patience. Shawn was beyond amazing marrying us. He was so genuine, and his bubbly personality and wonderful speech really made the day even better than it was. Emily delivered us wonderful pictures that told our story of that morning, and she delivered sneak peaks to us immediately just because I needed to share it with family overseas. I would definitely recommend them to couples seeking to get married with little hassle!

My partner and I were married in a North Vancouver forest by Shawn and Erica was our photographer. We were looking for a very personal, private and intimate ceremony and that is exactly what we got. Shawn lead us through a beautiful ceremony and gave us some guidance before the ceremony that really helped my husband and I lock into each other and reason we were there together. Shawn has a way of guiding the ceremony, while stepping back enough for us to feel like we were there alone. This made it easy to be our authentic selves in that moment, there was no show. This naturally led to a flood of emotion for both of us, as we felt the weight of our love, the significance of our bond, and the deep appreciation and gratitude that we have for each other.

Erica did a wonderful job of capturing the moment with beautiful and candid photographs of the ceremony and the hour following. The pictures are great!

In addition to the wedding day, they were both very helpful prior to the wedding, helping when we asked for guidance (e.g., alternative ceremony locations for rainy day and where/how to get our marriage license). They always answered the phone when I called with a question. We really feel that they were there for us before and during the wedding.

If you are considering a wedding officiant and/photographer we highly recommend Shawn and Erica. I cannot imagine a better couple to have there supporting a bride and groom on your wedding day. We are so grateful that Shawn and Erica were a part of this significant and special day.

We also had a small emergency on the day of our rehearsal and he was so kind while we sorted it out. Young Hip and Married was amazing to work with! We did an elopement with photography package and got to work with Shawn as our officiant and Erica for the photos! The YH&M staff were quick to answer all our questions and very understanding during covid times when we had to change our wedding date last minute. The notes sent to us by Shawn before the wedding date were so helpful and relieved any and all stress because we knew exactly what the expect on our special day.

Absolutely amazing! We booked Shawn for out August 2018 wedding- and are so pleased that we did! Shawn was easy to work with, gave great advice and was a complete pro the day of. We wanted a lighthearted ceremony and we wanted people to enjoy themselves. I work in the wedding industry and have seen many a boring ceremony that seemed like the officiant was using a generic template. Shawn made a personalized wedding just for us, and gave great tips for writing our own vows. Great communication over the TWO YEARS that we waited from booking until our wedding (haha!). Both the day of, and in the following weeks, we have had so many guests raving about what an awesome ceremony it was and how great the officiant was (and what rad shoes he wore!). I strongly believe the ceremony can set the tone for the entire wedding day, and Shawn did exactly this for us- we had an amazing wedding that was so much fun (the best in my mind- but I may be a bit biased!).
