I had been following Young Hip & Married for a few years, always impressed with their annual “Love In the Square” elopement event held on Valentine’s Day. When my partner & I decided to get married, there was no hesitation in choosing to work with YH&M! We wanted a quiet, simple, no-frills moment to celebrate our union, and YH&M delivered that. Shawn, our officiant, and Erica, our photographer are the ultimate power couple! Both super sweet, they took excellent care of us. They suggested the perfect quiet spot in the forest, and gave us a beautiful ceremony. The wedding vows course was an added bonus! So helpful. Considering we didn’t exchange rings or anything like that, our vows were the focal point of our day. The course helped us make sure they would be perfect. YH&M was such an easy choice for our special day.

There’s something to be said about the fact that we had picked out the officiant we wanted before my husband and I had even gotten engaged – and we were 110% right! Realtalk: Shawn & Erika were amazing and phenomenal. They have an amazing energy, are attentive to details to ensure your day goes according to your vision, are prompt in their communication, are caring individuals, super chill, hilarious, flexible and professional. They took all the stress out of a day that could’ve been highly stressful and helped us enjoy the moment and the start of a new journey. Tara (aka Office Goddess) was prompt in communication and super helpful about guiding us through the logistics and process. It just doesn’t get any better than this super team! We highly recommend! In fact, down the road, my husband and I might just have to go through a divorce and then a re-marriage à la Elizabeth Taylor just so that we have an excuse to work with these two again… 🙂

We decide to do a Covid year wedding since we had no idea when things will get back to normal again. However, this choice came with a lot of changes along the way during our planning phase. Young Hip & Married went above and beyond accommodating all our date, time, and location changes. We bombarded them with a ton of e-mails, and was all answered with kindness and patience. Shawn was beyond amazing marrying us. He was so genuine, and his bubbly personality and wonderful speech really made the day even better than it was. Emily delivered us wonderful pictures that told our story of that morning, and she delivered sneak peaks to us immediately just because I needed to share it with family overseas. I would definitely recommend them to couples seeking to get married with little hassle!

I was one of the many couples at Robson’s Square on Valentine’s. I just wanted to say again how thankful I am for what you guys did there. I am sure that all those involved are still exhausted and horse from that days events, but I sincerely hope that your views of that day were not changed! I must confess when I woke up that morning I had no idea I was going to get married, but even if I had known I couldn’t have pictured a more beautiful ceremony, or have found more perfect vows! Thank you so much Shawn Miller for marrying us! Though we had not met before, you spoke to us as old friends, easing our nerves, and even making us laugh. We were by know means the first couple you married that day, but you performed our ceremony as though we were. When you spoke the crowd around us melted away and there was only us three. It was absolute perfection! My only wish now is that I had a copy of those beautiful vows you helped us recite. In the moment I knew what I was saying was right with all my heart! Now that the moment has passed however, I can’t seem to remember them as eloquently as I should. I know it may seem silly seeing as you probably said the same words to every couple there that day but to me those words were meant for us and they are the words I would like to tell my grandchildren I said to their grandpa however many Valentine’s Days ago. My deepest and sincerest thanks to Shawn and everyone involved at Young Hip and Married. I really do hope you can continue this tradition though I do understand the event surely has taken off. Young Hip & Married has been an absolute pleasure to work with. They give you the all information for things you’ll need the day of the wedding. You have time to build rapport with your officiant and have a well tailored ceremony. They were also quite flexible with our venue changes during the pandemic.

Shawn, the owner, was our officiant, and it’s very easy to tell he puts a lot of care into not only the business, but officiating our wedding. The day of the wedding he pulled each of us aside and coached us through the ceremony, and made sure we were as comfortable as possible. This was super appreciated as you’d be surprised some of the day off jitters you can get right before the ceremony. It was a very smooth process and we wouldn’t change a thing.

Having been at a friend’s wedding in the fall where it was very evident that the officiant hadn’t met the couple previously, my then fiancé and I decided that we should invest some money in our wedding ceremony- after all, it was a very important element of our wedding day for us. After some research, we reached out to Young Hip & Married and within a day we had a meeting scheduled with Shawn. From the moment we met him, we knew that we wanted him to officiate at our wedding. It was obvious that he wanted to create a ceremony that was completely “us” and he wanted all our guests to leave the ceremony thinking the same! He answered all our questions and put us at ease. He took us through all stages of the planning so painlessly and it was so much fun working with him. When my fiancé and I read the ceremony script for the first time, we cried- Shawn had captured our story perfectly and we couldn’t wait for the big day!! When it came to the rehearsal, Shawn was just so excited to see us and to prepare us for our big day; all the nerves went away! Then to our big day- the day was so emotional and he actually worked with our guests and us to calm us all down and perform the most perfect ceremony for us!! All our guests were raving about how amazing he was and we couldn’t agree more! Young Hip and Married genuinely care for their couples and we couldn’t recommend them more to all the engaged couples out there!

Can’t say enough good things about Shawn. He was so patient and personable and really made our ceremony feel intimate. He really takes the stress out of wedding planning even though his role is one of the most important. In the short time prior to our wedding when we first contacted Young, Hip & Married, they were quick to get back to us and put everything together. Shaun showed up on time and was able to breathe a little air into the situation and calm both me and my wife. The ceremony was great and most people’s favorite memory of the evening. Even though we had been married in Mexico a month prior, we wanted to do something special at our Vancouver reception and Shaun came through in spades!! Thanks again!

My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Shawn. He was very personable and invested in our experience. The event was very sincere and he supported us through the whole ceremonial process.

We had Shawn officiate our wedding and it was amazing. We had so many compliments on the ceremony and people asking where we got him from. Some people complain about the costs for this company on the wedding groups I am in but they are worth every penny. The ceremony was personal and felt like he really knew us. He got our drafts to us in a timely manner, showed up for the rehearsal dinner (even though we forgot to confirm and we booked the rehearsal almost a year in advance, it gave me comfort for the wedding day knowing they had their schedule organized). Shawn was running about 30 minutes late on the day of the wedding but that was due to the people before us running behind so it was out of his control but he did call and let us know so we just made an announcement to our guests so they knew what was happening and could grab a drink while they were waiting. I would highly recommend Young Hip and Married.

We didn’t want a typical wedding set up so Shawn helped orchestrate a circular wedding for us. It was perfect in every way!! He really kept us calm and relaxed so we could enjoy every moment of our ceremony.

When we decided to elope, our expectations (when it came to finding an officiant and photographer) did not include anything close to the level of expertise we experienced with Shawn and Erica. It’s impossible to describe, except to say that they put such beautiful human touches on so many moments. We are extremely grateful to have been joined by Shawn and Erica on this day!

My husband and I couldn’t say greater things about working with Young Hip and Married for our big day. They were so great and easy to work with and made the whole experience from beginning to finish enjoyable. We were looking for a fun way to elope and from the second we met Shawn and Erica, they did not let us down. They made the experience light and fun and were so easy going. It was all about us and the experience we were after. We took a helicopter tour to the top of a mountain which had incredible views. A moment of huge appreciation and joy for the people at Young Hip & Married that were so accommodating, kind, and well spoken for our COVID-19 ceremony. Our friends and family who watched the video were all like “Wow the guy who married you guys was such a great speaker!” or some variation, and honestly, I just really enjoyed working with them! I’m not planning on getting married again, so I can’t say that I would use them again for, you know, another marriage ceremony. But we are planning on doing a vow renewal or something once COVID is under wraps and we can actually, you know, hug our friends and family without fear of giving them (or receiving) a virus; and for that we are definitely planning on going back to Young Hip & Married to see if that’d be cool!

We were married May 13th, 2017 in Stanley Park and it was a wonderful experience. Shawn at Young Hip & Married is a fantastic officiant. We really liked the concept of this company and definitely wanted to stay away from a long, boring, templated wedding ceremony. We hired Shawn as our officiant and he was excellent! He met with us a couple of times to get to know us and what we were looking for in our ceremony. He also gave us separate forms to fill out to find out about our personal thoughts on our relationship. In the end, he came up with a very nice, unique story of our relationship to share with our wedding guests. Our guests got to learn more about us as a couple. He also directed our rehearsal ceremony in a very fun, but organized and structured way which is difficult when there are so many people involved. We wrote our own vows and Shawn gave us a lot of advice on how to create them. Shawn was very good at communicating with us and provided the perfect ambiance for our young, hip wedding ceremony. We strongly recommend looking into this company for a similar experience. Shawn met all of our expectations.

Honestly we were so pleased with our little covid wedding. Many changes had to take place to finally get a wedding, but we are so thrilled with how it turned out, and how accommodating Young Hip and Married were. Shawn was so magnetic and engaging; he had us so present in the moment. My Mother-in-Law is still talking about the cool boots that Shawn wore. More importantly though he tailored his service to maximize the amount of time we had for pictures in the cool setting where we got married.

From the very first day we met Shawn, we knew our ceremony was going to be prefect! He listened and understood what we wanted and made it so personal. He was patient with us on editing the draft and was super helpful at explaining why he did certain things, but changed it if we wanted to. Yes, they are more expensive than a government marriage commissioner, but it is well worth it. All my guests said they LOVED the ceremony (and so did we)!!!!

Young Hip and Married was amazing to work with! We did an elopement with photography package and got to work with Shawn as our officiant and Erica for the photos! The YH&M staff were quick to answer all our questions and very understanding during covid times when we had to change our wedding date last minute. The notes sent to us by Shawn before the wedding date were so helpful and relieved any and all stress because we knew exactly what the expect on our special day.

Shawn was the officiant at our October 2020 wedding. As a more mature couple, we had certain ideas as to what we wanted our ceremony to look like! We had seen Shawn at our friends’ wedding and liked him. As well we had been at another wedding where another member of the YH&M team was the officiant and she was great! YHM is I can say one of the easiest people to talk to. Booking our elopement ceremony with them meant HASSLE-FREE and STRESS-FREE 💯 they were very accommodating from the beginning. Our email correspondence were always complete. As a couple, we felt very comfortable entrusting our ceremony with them.

At the day of our wedding, the rain was pouring hard but we saw their efforts as they came early and it didn’t stop them from being top notch.

We received our digital images a few days after. And we loved them all! I think you just need to be particular with what type of images you want to be captured (like candid / with guests, etc).

Shawn from Young Hip & Married managed to pull off a ceremony that all our parents (and us!) truly loved and we weren’t really sure if that would even be​ remotely possible! My husband and I grew up with different cultures and traditions and Shawn helped us find the perfect balance creating a custom ceremony that was so special and meaningful for us and our families. We got so many compliments from our guests on the ceremony, they loved being involved and a few people even asked if Shawn was a friend of ours! It was exactly what we wanted! We highly recommend Shawn if you’re looking for an excellent officiant​. The whole process was easy and professional.

We hired Young Hip and Married to officiate our ceremony after they were recommended to us by our wedding coordinator. We were a bit hesitant at first because they are a bit pricy, but after our initial interview we were sure we wanted to select them for our ceremony. It was obvious right away that they would do everything they could to customize the ceremony to be exactly how my wife and I wanted it.

From our initial interview right until the day of, they were professional and exciting, and took a lot of the edge off the process, helping us have a little fun during the stressful wedding planning phase. One particularly cute detail: Shawn, the CEO, who was also our officiant, prefers to send recorded videos as opposed to e-mails to his clients. We thought that was awesome! The only hiccup was caused by the officiant we initially chose dropping out about 3 months before the wedding for personal reasons. This was a wholly-unforeseen incident, not at all the fault of anyone at YHM. Even then, the company stepped in right away, and Shawn offered to officiate our wedding himself. He was one of our top picks, so we agreed. Despite the initial panic, the exchange went through relatively smoothly, so it all worked out in the end.

After that, everything went very smoothly. We went back and forth with Shawn and edited our ceremony until we were happy, no complaints from him whatsoever (and we can be quite picky!). We were able to run some ideas by him, and he helped us fit them into the ceremony smoothly. He also helped us write our vows (without showing them to either of us, of course). Organization-wise, Shawn worked directly with our wedding coordinator and DJ, and we did not have to worry about a thing on the day of.

We also found he had a calming presence, which was a huge help since we were both so nervous. He was there for our rehearsal too, and calmly taught us exactly what we needed to do, very good for us since neither me or my wife had done this kind of wedding before, not being originally from Canada. We also had the misfortune of getting rain RIGHT in the middle of our outdoor ceremony. Shawn was really put to the test then; he could have easily forced us indoors and ruined our carefully laid out plans, but he handled everything so well! He asked us what we wanted to do in a very subtle way, we doubt our guests even realized we were having a problem. We’re sure a less professional officiant might have botched it; we were really really glad to have him around then.

As for the ceremony itself, almost all of our guests remarked on how beautiful it was. Shawn was fantastic! Everything we could have hoped for. We highly recommend working Young Hip and Married for your wedding ceremony. If you want the ceremony YOU want, exactly the way you want it, and to not have to worry about any mistakes, or dealing with unforeseen mishaps, there is no one better!

We had Shawn as our officiant. Shawn was awesome – we loved the ceremony draft he made for us and he really made the day about my husband and I. Our family mentioned that Shawn did a phenomenal job and they really enjoyed his personality. Some family members even said they wish they had somebody like him for their wedding. Shawn helped us with our vows. When he double booked himself he apologised and sent a co-worker in his place for the rehearsal. Shawn’s coworker Denise did so good and was so helpful.
