I first connected with Young Hip and Married in August 2019 to book the Helicopter Elopement Package for April 8, 2020. I was floored with their quick response even though my date was still 8 months away! During the unraveling of Covid-19, our communication remained impeccable during such a stressing time; we were given weekly updates up until our province lockdown and we had to postpone with SKY Helicopters. Because we had no clue when life would resume to normal again, Shawn (our officiant) was determined to still make our special day happen since the date was sentimental to us. We were so touched! We followed the strict social distancing protocols and his words were so personalized and touching, I happy-cried throughout the whole ceremony. Also, our photographer, Erica Miller, offered a complimentary photography session which was awesome! We are so grateful for the commitment and hard work Young Hip and Married showed us, especially during this crazy time we’re all going though.

My fiancé and I were planning to elope and we were in search of an officiant and photographer in Vancouver. I stumbled across YH&M on the internet and they seemed the perfect fit. We wanted a simple, sweet ceremony sans religious overtones. We hoped to find someone that would reflect our sensibilities -creative/contemporary/cool. Shawn and his wife Erica were perfect!! Since we are from California & unfamiliar with Vancouver, they were extremely helpful in finding where we could procure our marriage license close to the hotel. They were also flexible about our location and allowed us to confirm within 24 hours of the scheduled ceremony. We wanted to visit the site we had chosen via pictures to be certain it was exactly what we wanted. They were on site prior to our scheduled time and ready to go as soon as we were. It was so nice to finally meet them in person after communicating with them via emails. We couldn’t have felt more comfortable! Our ceremony went off without a hitch- we managed to get a couple bicyclists to be witnesses 🙂 Erica stayed with us after the ceremony and we took loads of pictures. She couldn’t be nicer and really put us at ease. We got some great pictures out of the experience that we are free to use as desired. We both felt the value for the service was incredible. We were extremely happy with the entire experience with them, and would highly recommend their services to anyone!!

Young Hip and Married provided my husband and I exactly the wedding ceremony we hoped for. We were looking for a unique and personal experience that wouldn’t compromise our personal or spiritual values. Shawn was attentive, creative, and confident helping us arrange just such a ceremony. He kindly helped us through the entire process, from writing our own vows to navigating the paperwork involved in getting hitched. We had a small ceremony in Vancouver, and had so many people comment on how great Shawn was as our officiant! Highly recommended.

My partner and I were married in a North Vancouver forest by Shawn and Erica was our photographer. We were looking for a very personal, private and intimate ceremony and that is exactly what we got. Shawn lead us through a beautiful ceremony and gave us some guidance before the ceremony that really helped my husband and I lock into each other and reason we were there together. Shawn has a way of guiding the ceremony, while stepping back enough for us to feel like we were there alone. This made it easy to be our authentic selves in that moment, there was no show. This naturally led to a flood of emotion for both of us, as we felt the weight of our love, the significance of our bond, and the deep appreciation and gratitude that we have for each other.

Erica did a wonderful job of capturing the moment with beautiful and candid photographs of the ceremony and the hour following. The pictures are great!

In addition to the wedding day, they were both very helpful prior to the wedding, helping when we asked for guidance (e.g., alternative ceremony locations for rainy day and where/how to get our marriage license). They always answered the phone when I called with a question. We really feel that they were there for us before and during the wedding.

If you are considering a wedding officiant and/photographer we highly recommend Shawn and Erica. I cannot imagine a better couple to have there supporting a bride and groom on your wedding day. We are so grateful that Shawn and Erica were a part of this significant and special day.

We had Shawn as our officiant. Shawn was awesome – we loved the ceremony draft he made for us and he really made the day about my husband and I. Our family mentioned that Shawn did a phenomenal job and they really enjoyed his personality. Some family members even said they wish they had somebody like him for their wedding. Shawn was amazing! He was so charismatic and easy to talk to about our ceremony. For us, the most important part of the wedding was the ceremony and it was paramount to us to find the right officiant. We wanted a lighthearted ceremony since we knew, our emotions will be running high on that day. It was important to us to tell our story with a touch of humour but elegance. So when we came across YH&M, we really liked what we read (very effective website) and filled out their online form. Next day, we received an email with time options to meet the officiant. We had the pleasure to meet with Shawn Miller and had a great meeting. We felt immediately that with Shawn, we are in good hands. We didn’t even think twice but to hire YH&M. We were so excited, we both felt that it’ll be a great ceremony. What we gathered from our initial meeting was that Shawn is very experienced in his field, he is professional, knowledgable, has a great sense of humor and most importantly is very understanding. We made a few requests that were very important for us to be mentioned during the ceremony. On top of that, Shawn had to be mindful of my medical condition so that everything went smoothly. Yes, my parents were by my side but there were many things that were depending on the officiant and Shawn did an amazing job ensuring that I felt good throughout the entire ceremony, even if he had to do a few uncomfortable things like moving the guests around, rearranging seats, changing timing a bit etc. But he did it with such professionalism that no one felt awkward or uncomfortable. It was a smooth operation. Thank you for that Shawn! I have been to a few weddings and the ceremony has been always dry and impersonal, even though some couples chose their mutual friend to be the officiant so that this doesn’t happen. Our guests thought Shawn is our old friend, and knows us many years. This is the level of experience that he provides. After our initial meeting we filled out an extensive form detailing our wish ceremony style. Sometimes, when you fill out a form, people requesting those don’t read half of it. One thing that stood out for us with Shawn was his attention to detail. I’m very detail oriented and it was so important for me that nothing gets missed, especially during the ceremony. Shawn, paid attention to every detail and we could see that in the ceremony. Not only that, he has given us some valuable advise about certain things that we thought should be otherwise. Thank God we followed his advise. Our ceremony was better than we had envisioned or hoped for. We loved every single bit of it. It was lighthearted, elegant, beautiful, we laughed, we cried, it was 100% us and we felt amazing. Our guests are still talking about it and asked us how we found Shawn. For my husband and I the ceremony was the most magical experience and we are always thankful to Shawn for that. Well, needless to say, we highly recommend Shawn and YH&M to new couples.

There’s something to be said about the fact that we had picked out the officiant we wanted before my husband and I had even gotten engaged – and we were 110% right! Many officiants are not able to get an audience’s cooperation when requesting an unplugged ceremony, but Shawn had a way of requesting it that made guests feel more involved, and it made for a lively and captivating ceremony wherein the guests did not miss their devices. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Shawn made our rehearsal stress free and easy. He took all of us who didn’t know what we were doing and made us feel secure and confident with the plan. We had an amazing experience with YH&M who were the officiants for our ceremony. When we were at the very early stages of planning our wedding we had come across the YH&M team and immediately knew that we wanted them to be a part of our special day. We were so happy when the planners that found (Pop Up Weddings) used them as the officiants for the ceremonies that they organize. We had a very quick elopement (15min + 45min photo shoot) on a local beach outside of Vancouver. Shawn, our officiant, and Erica the photographer were awesome. Everything went smoothly, Shawn was a great speaker even though he had never met us, and Erica was very casual to work with afterwards for our photo shoot. The moment I met Shawn I knew I wanted him to officiant my wedding. I was looking at venues and he was handing out business cards. After only speaking to him for 30 seconds, I loved his charisma. My now husband and I met with him shortly afterwards, and my husband liked him too. We decided to go with Young, Hip & Married because we wanted something special, and we wanted our wedding to leave a positive impression in our guests’ memories. We’ve witnessed more than enough wedding ceremonies that were impersonal and boring because the officiant didn’t take the time to get to know the couple like Shawn and his team do. I really liked being able to review, edit, and customize our ceremony as many times as we wanted to before the big day. We even made some last-minute changes only days before, and this wasn’t a problem. Shawn had many great ideas, and some ideas that we didn’t like as much, but he customized our ceremony until we were 100% happy with it. We wrote a few of the details ourselves, including our own vows, and Shawn incorporated everything. He even printed out copies of our vows and brought them to the ceremony for us so we didn’t have to worry about that with everything else going on. After the ceremony, some guests asked how Shawn knows us. Young, Hip & Married does such a great job, your guests will assume the officiant is a long-time friend of yours! I also love that he attended and directed our rehearsal. It took some of the stress away from the big day having someone else tell everyone where they needed to be and what the needed to do that day. I highly recommend Young, Hip & Married to officiant anyone’s wedding! You won’t be disappointed!

As many can relate, organizing a wedding (no matter the size) can be quite a daunting task, including finding a great officiant. We are incredibly happy we stumbled upon YHM, as they provided us with quick and the uttermost smooth service, and hooked us up with a fantastic officiant!
